About the designer
Deniz Aktay is a German product designer known for furniture made from a single, extraordinary curve of bent plywood. The Shell Table is one of his pieces. We built it in 3D and gave it a film.
The piece
A pill of bent plywood, one continuous curve that works as a table, a bench or a stool, hollowed into a shelf with a single slot cut through the top. It looks like one single sweep of wood grain. Our job was to make the render look like the real thing.
How we made it
We modeled the Shell Table from Deniz's design, matched the bent plywood down to the grain direction, and lit it to look like a real product photo. Then we animated the full reveal and cut a process reel of the build.
Outcome
Across multiple channels, the launch film has passed 1.2M+ views. The table itself sold out just 22 hours after it went live on DezinObjects.
It was also picked up by design press, including Yanko Design.
